Iowa State Laws For Bowfishing

You must have a valid state fishing license.

Gaff hooks or landing nets may be used to assist in landing fish.

It is legal to take Bullfrogs with a bow. Legal daily limit is 12. You must have a valid fishing license to shoot frogs.

Rough Fish can be taken by bow and arrow day or night.

Note: Bowfishing is not a legal method for taking turtles, paddlefish, or any game fish..
